The People's Channel is an invaluable resource that serves not only the community in terms of providing programming that deals with local material, which will never be seen on cable or even network channels, but it also provides an outlet for community members to learn how media works and actually produce it themselves. The budget that is required to continue to function is a drop in the bucket compared to budgets of major corporations, who should not be given the right to reroute local resources and reduce our opportunities to communicate through media. By not allocating a consistent budget to local media channels, the efforts of employees of these channels are muted through spending time seeking funding when they ought to be able to use all of their skills to benefit the community.
