no, the 'wise latina' issue didn't come up at all during the hearings.
lol. this is textbook trolling (@jdebonzo) ignore the whole article, why dontcha?
her 'thesis' was explaining how her life experience impacts her thinking - NO different from what Alito said during his confirmation hearings about his immigrant and impoverished roots. and NO different from the then-uncontroversial justifications provided by conservatives for Clarence Thomas. i'm assuming you find each of these situations equally worthy of opprobrium.
if not, are you stating that she can't be 'latina', or that latina's can't be 'wise'?
nice post-jack attempt, tho.
lol. this is very ironic to me since i'm reading this article from a conference room in Beijing. i'll be fighting Chinese New Year traffic on my way to the airport tomorrow. great article!
thanks a lot for your comment. i hadn't read this since i wrote it. its interesting to re-read it in a post-election world. peace, -derek

Re: “Why I started the Independent and why I am selling it”
Wow. Happy trails, Steve. Thanks for all of the wonderful work that you've done for all of the communities that this paper has faithfully served over the years. I've certainly appreciated the opportunities you and the Indy have afforded my expressions over the years.
I'm very sorry, however, to see Sioux Watson leaving. The Independent won't be the same without her.
