(I realize that this article is more than a year old, but I just found it...) After growing up in Paducah and ONLY knowing the Paducah Sun, this article made me laugh. I was a journalism major in college and my eyes were suddenly opened to the poor example of a newspaper that the Sun actually is. One of my greatest fears was that I would have to move back to Paducah and work for the Paxton Media Group, as I feel that they have a ridiculously poor sense of journalism. The comment from the former editor about the Herald-Sun going to Paducah size and Paducah quality actually made me laugh out loud. If you know nothing about journalism, then yeah, the Paxton Group does an okay job. If you have ANY knowledge of the field then you realize... it's crap. The Paducah Sun will probably always be a poor excuse for a newspaper until someone starts something that challenges it. But in a town with less than 30,000 residents, I doubt anyone ever will. At least the citizens of Durham have other options.
