N.C. astronomy institute aims to archive a treasure trove of celestial photos
This photo, shown here in negative, was taken at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona in January 1975. Supernova 1975 is marked as SN 1975A. The distance to the two colliding galaxies is approximately 80 million light-years.
