Welcome to the Indy's first annual Give!Guide
**Note: Our first annual Give!Guide was originally launched to coincide with the December 2012 holiday season. After the holidays, we intended to remove the guide until December 2013. Then we decided, there's never a bad time to donate to a non-profit organization which is making a difference in our community.
INDY Week makes recommendations all the time — about restaurants, bands, bars, plays, all sorts of things. This month we’re adding another: recommendations about local nonprofits we think you should support as the year comes to an end. The 12 Triangle-area organizations listed on these pages have been handpicked by INDY staffers. They come in all sizes and shapes, and perform all sorts of major and minor miracles year-round. Please check them out — we are sure you will find one or more worthy of your generosity.
Please note our intention to expand this effort next year. In 2004 our parent company in Oregon began an annual Give!Guide. That year it raised about $24,000 for 20 local nonprofits. This year, a similar effort should produce more than $1.75 million for 110 Portland-area charities. (You can check it out: Willamette Week Give!Guide.) In May or June of 2013, we’ll announce our plans for INDY Week’s Give!Guide — along with our hopes to show Portlanders just how generous Triangle residents can be.
Founded in 1983, the same year as the INDY, Triangle Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that manages funds established by individuals, businesses and families. From these funds, they give grants to nonprofit organizations and administer a variety of programs for the community’s benefit.
By fostering greater giving and volunteering in our region, they support our community now and in the future.
