I admit the Boston bombing is a tragedy, BUT, so is the climate change. WHERE will people run when there is no where left to run, when there is No Clean Water, No Clean Air, No Contaminated Food? Time is running out for all of us and The Gas & Oil Companies are only making it worse due to their greed for $$$$$ and Power. I believe and will always believe the HUMAN RACE is the most important Race. PLEASE Go and learn get educated on what these companies are doing to our EARTH, Our Home, To Us.
Thank you for taking the time to review LiLa's new album. I don't think you quite grasp who these guys are, especially when you refer to them as a "six-man bro band". These guys are great at what they do and put all their heart and soul into the music. If you want a better rendition, please come out to the release party at the Cradle on Friday so you can hear these songs with the energy and passion that LiLa brings to the stage.
.Peace.
Thanks for review-- LiLa has without a doubt some of the hyp-est concerts in Durham, and I don't think IV is going to change any of that. Partially agree with some of production critique but that has never been the reason to listen to LiLa-- I don't think they will stop giving Durham (or Chapel Hill, Friday) or anywhere else a packed and pulsing show, and that's what it has always been about for me and plenty of other folks. IV doesn't lack any of the thoughtful lyrics or jamming beats that we love from LiLa and I find it hard to believe Durham's going to outgrow those guys anytime soon
The "Bob Seger is a poor man's Bruce Springsteen" claim revaels a cursory understanding of Seger's career and the height of cliche (the very thing the reviewer ascribes to Seger). A closer look at their respective careers reveals that Seger's songs, while more modest than Springsteen's often more grandiose and sometimes political overtones, connect more intimately with his audience because of his simple yet universal themes related to real life emotions and relationships. As Bob Dylan once said "some people say that Bob Seger is a poor man's Bruce Springteen but I always thought that Bruce Springsteen was a rich man's Bob Seger."
She does a great a job!
Yes, I think she's the real deal. She has those big expressive eyes that seem to be critical for film actors and movie stardom. I wonder if you could map the DNA for big movie star eyes.

Absolutely, bag of shredded sharp cheddar, couple of dollops of good mayonnaise like Duke's or Hellmann's. Some people put some sour cream or a little cream cheese. One jar of pimentos, Dromedary are best, because they are from Johnson City, TN. Pinch of garlic powder, couple shots of Worchestershire sauce, salt and black pepper to taste. That's it. Let sit in the refrigerator overnight or at least several hours.
Feel sorry for Fort Lauderdale Strikers, though it’s still a great match hope they can make up on their next figth with RailHawks. I just notice while watching their replay that there are repetitive errors that can be avoided if they only learn the 7 Secrets To Soccer Excellence (http://e1fit.com/recommendsSoccerWebinar/). If you want to be competitive you need to learn the 7 key mental, physical and nutritional strategies that you can use immediately and over time to catapult your performance.
"Caplan provides a depth of feeling that isn't always there," is what I've always noticed about her. I'm looking forward to seeing her playing lead or at least a strong supporting role in a big-budget drama. She's certainly a "future" star, but if only the future could come quicker. This seems like a throwaway role though.
Hold on. DPS has about 24,000 enrolled annually. About 350 drop out each year. And about 350 enter K every year "at risk," Durham has a solvable problem. Adding an extra grade, universal Pre K, has a good chance to eliminate the poverty gap, assuming the school system continues to pay attention to the at risk kids and their families thru to graduation, don't you think?
This should be a state run program funded by a tax on commercial breeders and purchases. It would solve the overpopulation problem.
1. Buying a dog or cat would cost more, so shelter adoptions would go up. Breeding would go down.
2. Free/low cost spay and neuter would cut the population, especially in rural areas.
Sorry about that, Martin. We'll aim not to disappoint again.
The print edition of the Indy suggests we check out the Scan blog for a more detailed listing of Record Store Day events around the Triangle. Yet, the scan blog has not been updated since Wednesday, and a search reveals no such listings. Thanks for nothing.
Correction: This is a Trickle Media event, and the Record unfortunately will not be able to perform, and are no longer on the bill. Thanks, and I hope to see you out there!

Re: “Taser death raises questions about mental health and police training”
Better this fella was allowed to run off than killed by the police. Fuck mental health training, if someone is noncompliant after 3 shocks from a 10,000 volt battery, you need to wait for more backup and do it the old fashioned way, not kill someone with the weapon that's supposed to save you both.....no police officer should be allowed to use a taser unless normal force doesn't work. They're police for a reason, and they should be protecting EVERYONE including the perps, from themselves, if necessary. The way I hear it, they like to pull up next to drug dealers these days and just hit them, right from the car, hog tie and release after questioning. It's getting a little out of hand to say the least.
