Re: “How Undocumented Immigrants Can Avoid ICE

Its a darn shame that some people are so liberal that they have lost their common sense. Did you people really espouse, in print, methods by which illegal aliens can avoid federal law enforcement, for the choice that they freely made, to come to the US illegally? Your citizenship should be revoked. Stop and think about what you are doing.............Any other laws you want to give advise on HOW TO BREAK???

Re: “Will America Ever Become the Mother of Exiles?

Just touched on lightly is Illegal Immigration. Most Immigration into the US has been LEGAL Immigration.

Also, ever since Reagan, enforcement has been the problem. Our Immigration Code has not been strictly enforced especially after the last eight years under Obama.

Re: “Charles Murray's Duke Appearance Avoids the Blacks-Are-Inferior Thing, Talks About “Cognitive Elites” and the White Working Class

More bottom feeders attacking Murray without even having the faintest idea of anything he is actually written or believes. Hey, at least one of the protesters at "heard" about the book. I guess five minutes of Googling was too much to ask of the smear merchant who wrote this. I can't imagine while the whole campus antics movement is a national laughing stock. That is, when they aren't destroying property or sending female faculty members to the hospital.

Re: “How Undocumented Immigrants Can Avoid ICE

Did you know Independent weekly any of this?

Nearly One Million Sex Crimes Committed by Illegal Immigrants In The United States.

All these stats don't include murder, rape, assaults, burglary, identity theft, tax evasion, drug running, human smuggling and so much more that American's have to put up with on a daily basis.

Here is a PARTIAL list below of what ILLEGALS are costing us now.

Most the facts below are 3 years old or newer so some of the numbers have risen dramatically since then.

12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English.

$17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

$2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

$22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year.

$3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens.

30% percent of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens.
Does not include local jails and State Prisons.

In 2012 illegal aliens sent home $62 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin. This is why Mexico is getting involved in our politics.

$200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

Re: “Evangelicals Overwhelmingly Support Trump. Not All of Them Support His Refugee Policies.

I will never understand how people who claim to be Christians could possibly think the republicans in general, and Rump in particular, share any aspect of life, especially religion. They are evil liars that care only for the billionaire class and the power they can achieve using their money.

Morality to them is a joke they force others to observe while they do whatever they want. Republicans are nobody's friend...unless you got tons of dark money.

Re: “Garner Residents in Subsidized Housing Face Increased Rent, Eviction

Huh. Eller has stopped accepting Section 8 before:…

Now there are two stories. The story of these residents in Garner, and the ongoing story of Chapel Hill's affordable housing problem. If Eller was praised by the chamber for his affordable housing work, there's definitely a different standard out there.

Re: “Garner Residents in Subsidized Housing Face Increased Rent, Eviction

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce actually named Eller "Young professional of the year" in 2015. With no hint of irony, the Chamber praised Eller's work on behalf of affordable housing.

No need to silence Mr. Murray as his ilk create their own form of a gag reflex and noise cancelling speech. His brand of endangered species warrants protection since being curious about him and others like him ensures he survives as a reminder of hate and why it exists.

after producing stephen miller and richard spencer, you'd think duke could do better than a discredited eugenicist if they really wanna push the fallacy that every random nitwit is owed a public platform including academic promotion and law enforcement protection. who paid for the excessive cop presence? not the taxpayers I hope. duke should stick to enabling aggressive fouling on the basketball court and cut it out with the neofascism- it's become embarrassing to even admit to having relatives who attended the school.

Re: “Garner Residents in Subsidized Housing Face Increased Rent, Eviction

It seems that EPC LLC is Eller Capital Partners, of Chapel Hill. The president of that company, Daniel Eller, is on the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce and was named one of 40 under 40.

Completely shameful and the perfect example of why federal funding for the poor and disabled must not be slashed, because greed is actually NOT good and people will die.

Sure hope they choose a different path. And that goes for the Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce, too. He shouldn't be on the board.

Re: “Garner Residents in Subsidized Housing Face Increased Rent, Eviction

EPC LLC should be publicly shamed for throwing vulnerable citizens out on the street, especially in such a cold manner. that's harsh. i have no respect for the people that made that decision. What they do to others they will do to you.

Re: “CONFIRMED: District Attorney Roger Echols Will Not Prosecute DPD Officer Charles Barkley for Killing Frank Clark

- in news about Echols report
other media are still trivializing the execution-style head-shot as
..."struck Clark on the left side of his scalp, according to the report"...
[a mere flesh wound?]

Echol's report does NOT say Clark had
[a mere flesh wound?] "on the left side of the scalp";
other reporters are putting words in DA report
from misreading the autopsy.

AUTOPSY suggests he was downed by shattered right femur, [also not a mere flesh wound]
and shot through top of head, bullet traveling through brain
stopped in neck under skull, shot from about 2 feet away from the entry wound,
according to the fact that there was stippling
[from less than 3 feet] but no soot
[so from more than 1 foot]
at entrance wound
at TOP of Clark's head, DOWNWARD, with the bullet recovered from the neck, under the skull.

Seems like a quick execution.
[-- "Dead men tell no tales."]

DA report says
gun and shell casing reported to have been found to the LEFT of Clark's body,
& Clark's hands were swabbed (including his LEFT hand).

Did other media reporters who reported that Echol's report said that
Clark had been struck on the left side of his scalp
even read the DA's report?

indyweek best source in this case...

Oh yeah, blame "home court advantage."

As a gamecock fan who just moved to Durham, this doesn't portray Duke fans in a very good light. Y'all got outplayed.

Re: “5 Things We Learned At Saturday’s March 4 Trump Rally

Hearing firsthand the things these rally-goers had to say really puts into perspective the hard work that will be necessary to reach any kind of common ground. For some of them, the ground has already cracked and swallowed them whole. A few of the nuggets of wisdom gleaned:

A "cabal of leftists"

"They're burning books!"

Wants to see America "purged"

"I don't even know what Russia said or did or whatever..."

"I believe in Christian people and that's what we want in America..."

And my personal favorite: "We don't want no Satan people here!"

Satan people. Because in this life you get to choose--either you're a Christian, or you're Satan people. Choose wisely, friends. ;)

Re: “Vote for your favorites

It seems that no one considers Wake Forest part of the Triangle in this survey. Stewarts Bistro, for example, does the rare job of combining excellent food with excellent coffee (one usually gets only or the other) with excellent service.

Re: “The Party Barn: Are Rustic Weddings Destroying a Way of Life in Rural Orange County?

Whatever happened to "Love thy neighbor?" As mother of the bride, we have spent a lot of time and money (no, we are not rich) into our daughter's wedding. We came out to The Barn and found it and the community to be a lovely place for a wedding. This was prior to the unattractive signs that are now on display in your yards. We have no intention of disrupting your lives. We simply wanted to have a nice wedding in a beautiful setting. You do not know or care how deeply you have affected the bride and their families. It could have been much worse. The Brewers could have put in a trailer park, or even better, a dirt race track like my brother's neighbor did. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Just wondering....what are you going to say when you pass on and you are asked the question, Did you love your neighbor?

Re: “Can Republican-Sponsored Redistricting Reform Save North Carolina’s Democracy?

One sentence from this article -- "Democrats tend to cluster in urban areas" -- if examined by a journalist or political scientist, would make clear why Republicans will come out ahead in elections where all legislators are chosen from single-member districts.
