They're like dogs with horns. And dead eyes. Don't forget about their evil, dead eyes.

no color wall?! :D
love it, love it, love it. thanks.
I'm sick of seeing Southern "Rebels" dressed up to reenact their loss to the North. The Southern plantation owners from the era of the Civil War thought that they were entitled to become the American aristocracy aren't the ones who fought the war, and were not rebels. They were protecting their investment. Get over your loss.
Sorry, you've got to scroll over the photo to see the captions, folks.
HOW predictable was it that there would have been a picture of two gay men and a picture of an old black man with a face full of "character" ? I am neither homophobe (e.g. I fully support repeal of DADT, long overdue) or racist (e.g. I supported and worked for President Obama), but really, Independent, try to step outside being a caricature of yourself, occasionally. And I agree with the commentators who reject the overt editorializing in the introduction (even though I pretty much agree with what was said).
Oh, and some captions would have been nice ... Seems to me that if a picture is worth taking and certainly if it's worth distributing for thousands to see, it's worth writing a sentence describing it.
Please ignore the war apologists, as well as those who don't understand the nature of editorial photography.
Great job all around ... beautiful work. Cross-posted at BlueNC.
The introductory comments were in complete agreement with my views, but I really want to thank you for and compliment you on the well chosen collection of photos.
I wish so much I had a photo from a time almost thirty years ago when my son and I (at that time college-selecting) took a road trip to the University of Illinois and were surprised to be overtaken on the interstate by a truck rig carrying a house! We couldn't believe our eyes and the "picture" is indelibly imprinted on my memory!
While the Iraq War was, in retrospect, unjustified; the war in Afghanistan most certainly was not. The Taliban government was given every opportunity to deal with Al Qaeda on their own and they chose not to, knowing full well what the consequences would be. They were harboring those who had killed more Americans than the Japanese had at Pearl Harbor; in fact, they were sheltering them. For nations that consider us to be their enemy yet lack the conventional military power to strike against us, the tacit support of terrorist organizations has become the preferred method of achieving their foreign policy and ideological goals. Therefore, the 9/11 attacks were an act of war against this nation, sanctioned by the Taliban.
I agree with the previous comment. what a bunch of politically motivated morons.
Any chance you clowns can leave the editorials OUT of a "news" piece?
The woman with the microphone is Irma Aguirre, an elder at Immaculate Conception who led me on my first procession years ago. Here's my blog entry on the 2009 celebration:
Great year-end photo feature. Front paged at BlueNC. Happy new year to all!
They didn't stand denouncing racism, they stood denouncing the rule of law. The blatently deprived Tancredo of his Constitutional right to free speech by their thugish and criminal actions. Tancredo didn't even get a chance to speak to the audience who INVITED him and wanted to hear him because the mob of those ever to "tolerant" liberals became bellicose and violent. Everyone has a right to free speech, even if their speech is unpopular. The protesters are nothing but facists.
I LOVE this woman.
She gets it. She totally gets it.
I've been doing something similar for the past ten years. Mary, if you're out there, please look me up. Would love to have tea and listen to the birds with you sometime.
Sounds great! Unexpectedly, the crash of the US economy has begun. But still, people can make ways to resist these changes. The U.S. economy is shaky for pretty much everybody. Not only is it bad for Americans, but lousy U.S. economy hits the whole world hard. The U.S. bailout measures are good for everyone worldwide, if the cash advances being made work like they're intended to. However, some are insisting that the bailout is going to wreck the budget and make the deficit explode. Obama and others insist there will be cuts made that will make up for it. Regardless, let us hope that the short term loans we're making will help to bring back the U.S. economy.
