Re: “Taser death raises questions about mental health and police training

Better this fella was allowed to run off than killed by the police. Fuck mental health training, if someone is noncompliant after 3 shocks from a 10,000 volt battery, you need to wait for more backup and do it the old fashioned way, not kill someone with the weapon that's supposed to save you both.....no police officer should be allowed to use a taser unless normal force doesn't work. They're police for a reason, and they should be protecting EVERYONE including the perps, from themselves, if necessary. The way I hear it, they like to pull up next to drug dealers these days and just hit them, right from the car, hog tie and release after questioning. It's getting a little out of hand to say the least.

Re: “The climate change movement is not resonating with the public

I admit the Boston bombing is a tragedy, BUT, so is the climate change. WHERE will people run when there is no where left to run, when there is No Clean Water, No Clean Air, No Contaminated Food? Time is running out for all of us and The Gas & Oil Companies are only making it worse due to their greed for $$$$$ and Power. I believe and will always believe the HUMAN RACE is the most important Race. PLEASE Go and learn get educated on what these companies are doing to our EARTH, Our Home, To Us.

Re: “LiLa's IV

Thank you for taking the time to review LiLa's new album. I don't think you quite grasp who these guys are, especially when you refer to them as a "six-man bro band". These guys are great at what they do and put all their heart and soul into the music. If you want a better rendition, please come out to the release party at the Cradle on Friday so you can hear these songs with the energy and passion that LiLa brings to the stage.

.Peace.

Re: “LiLa's IV

Thanks for review-- LiLa has without a doubt some of the hyp-est concerts in Durham, and I don't think IV is going to change any of that. Partially agree with some of production critique but that has never been the reason to listen to LiLa-- I don't think they will stop giving Durham (or Chapel Hill, Friday) or anywhere else a packed and pulsing show, and that's what it has always been about for me and plenty of other folks. IV doesn't lack any of the thoughtful lyrics or jamming beats that we love from LiLa and I find it hard to believe Durham's going to outgrow those guys anytime soon

Re: “Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band

The "Bob Seger is a poor man's Bruce Springsteen" claim revaels a cursory understanding of Seger's career and the height of cliche (the very thing the reviewer ascribes to Seger). A closer look at their respective careers reveals that Seger's songs, while more modest than Springsteen's often more grandiose and sometimes political overtones, connect more intimately with his audience because of his simple yet universal themes related to real life emotions and relationships. As Bob Dylan once said "some people say that Bob Seger is a poor man's Bruce Springteen but I always thought that Bruce Springsteen was a rich man's Bob Seger."
