Re: “November 19 crossword

Spoiler Alert!

The entire upper left corner is messed up because the creators unfortunately mixed around "Sunrise, Sunset" from Fiddler on the Roof. Be more careful next time!

Re: “September 3 crossword solution

There seems to be a geographical error in the clue for 50 Down. A "man from Tehran (var.)" would be an Iranian, not an "Iraki." How about "Man from Mosul (var.)" instead?

Re: “August 13 crossword solution

I meant to say
While you might look askance because you are LEERY or wary, it does not mean you are LEERing. Am I missing something?

Re: “August 13 crossword solution

118 down clue "look askance"
118 answer "leer"
Please explain this to me as in my thinking these are contradictory meanings.

I've always thought that to look "askance" was to purposely look AWAY from something (often done in a side-wise manner,) usually because of wariness, distrust or skepticism.
Whereas I've always believed that to "leer" was to purposely look TOWARD something (even if done in a "side-wise" manner), usually because of sexual or malicious intent.
How can you leer at something that you can't see? Why would you look askance of something that you wanted to see?
While you might look askance because you are LEARY, it does not mean you are LEERing. Am I missing something?

Re: “Feb. 19 crossword puzzle

This is becoming an unfunny joke. the URL you gave me (http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/diversion… . ) if for an entirely different puzzle. The printed puzzle (I mean printed on paper, you understand) is called "A Walk in the Woods." There is no title on the puzzle at that URL and it it o way resembles the one you included on the printed version.

Re: “Feb. 19 crossword puzzle

cbdean, we are working on the pdf download problem. It is an intermittent problem and therefore, difficult to troubleshoot.
keviwan and Mary Jo Haverty here is the link to the solution for the Chris King, "A Walk in the Woods" crosswood - http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/ArticleAr…
Chuck Galle the puzzle can be found here http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/diversion… . Some weeks we publish two crosswords online but only one of them in print. We apologize for the confusion.

Re: “Feb. 19 crossword puzzle

I'm astonished that you have not put up the actual puzzle that appears in the printed version, and a solution to it, especially with the strange turns it takes, by now. I informed you of the problem back last Friday and yet the same puzzle, totally unrelated to the printed version still appears. Tsk, tsk.

Re: “Feb. 19 crossword puzzle

Will you print the solution to this very difficult puzzle in next week's Indy? I'm not a big fan of this Chris King - way to obscure and local.

Re: “Feb. 19 crossword puzzle

The puzzle I have in my 2/19/14 Indy is "A Walk in the Woods" by Chris King, not "Egged On". Can you post the solution for it please, thanks!

Is there a reason why this puzzle will not download in the larger PDF?

Re: “July Solve Locally solution

You are correct, sir. I apologize for the error—I have seen this mistake (and someone correcting it) in crosswords before, but know too little about golf myself to have prevented myself from making it. Thanks for pointing it out.
