I would like to note that I am making a face for the camera. Although they say "true love is blind", I don't think I would have gotten anywhere with Carol if I actually looked like that!
I made this for Yule 2010 and it turned out great! I'm glad it was online so I could share it easily with my friends.
AliG_Dukie and Dermite, I apologize for the late reply. I am just returning from a web conference in San Francisco.
We do not sell or share your information with anyone. The only time we will share your name with a venue is when you have won tickets to an event and your name needs to be on a guest list or at will call. We ask for your address for prizing that may need to be mailed out to you like a gift certificate, product, or actual event tickets.
Once you've sent your email with your personal information, you are entered into a prize lottery, we choose a winner on the designated date and then the emails are archived and discarded at the end of that calendar year. We keep them archived for a year for our records in case we need to look back on or account for anything. All personal information is used internally. I hope I have answered your question, if you have any additional questions don't hesitate to ask.
Because our readers have been so receptive to our giveaways, we are creating a new giveaways module to better handle our contests. In our build-out we are including a disclosure which will be automatically assigned to each contest. In the interim, we will manually add this information to each contest so it's readily available for anyone else who may have concerns regarding how their personal information is used.
Thank you!
I'm curious about this too, Dermite. I don't often give out my full name to strangers (if we can call our beloved Indy a "stranger"), I rarely give out my address to anything online, and I just about never give out my phone number to any company that doesn't thoroughly explain why they need it.
I think the concept/marketing push of Indy Swag is really cool, but I hesitate to participate without a real answer on what they'll be doing with this personal information. The worst thing ever would be to get a bunch of telemarketing calls on my cell phone because I doled out my digits for $30 worth of chocolate.
INDY EDITOR: Please, give us some information on this!! We your readership/marketing demographic beg this of you!
Yum! -- I'll enter. Still curious what happens to the contact info. Used for the contest and discarded? Or used for the contest and sold to advertisers? Or shared just with the business that is providing the prize (which seems reasonable). I assume it's not blasted out across the universe, but I couldn't find anything that says so.
