Re: “Ashee Ethiopian Cuisine

This is now called Awaz and it's a charming little spot. I have spent about a month in Ethiopia and Eritrea and lived off their food 24/7 while in those countries. My second date with my now long term girlfriend was at an Ethiopian restaurant. I think for a white guy, I can speak pretty well to quality and this place is by far the best option we have in the Triangle, and really, one of the better ones in North America (DC is the Mecca for this cuisine, but Seattle holds its' own, too!).

I'm from Montreal and grew up eating steak tartars, so naturally I'm a big lover of kitfo, which is like Ethiopian steak tartare. You need to really trust a restaurant to eat food like that, which was NO problem for me. All the injera you need (teff grain based bread), some good sides like shiro, a lentil dish which is as comforting to me as homemade food from mom. Yes, I know my mother is not Ethiopian, it's just DAMN good.

There's a good menu, decent enough selection of wines/beers/typical cocktails. Don't go here thinking you'll have a renaissance with booze, but you will have a great meal.

Neomonde had an official name change recently. We are no longer Neomonde Bakery & Deli. We are now Neomonde Mediterranean.

Re: “The Loop Pizza Grill

Good food, quick service, great prices. Pizzas are great, but so are the salads, wraps, and burgers. If you are hungry, don't want to waste time, but don't want inferior 'fast food' or overpriced offerings from 'trendy' restaurants, give The Loop a try. You'll be glad you did.

Re: “The Big Easy

We went here with friends one evening before the theatre. Best New Orleans food we have found in the Raleigh. My only complaint is the table and chairs near the door were not real comfortable especially for people our age. Good service though and want to return to when we have time to try the desserts.

Re: “Babylon

Discovered this restaurant one day on the way back to Fuquay Varina. It is only open for dinner and although we have eaten inside it is wonderful to eat out doors in the courtyard when the weather is nice. We have taken several friends and family there. Variety menu. Waiters are helpful if you aren't familiar with Moroccan cuisine. Love the Chicken Bastilla Rolls.

Re: “Blue Note Grill

Everything very unprofessional. They just want to charge you an "revolutionary fee" with all the service making pressure on you. It was a terrible bar. It is a lot more better food and music around Durham with much nice people managing it.

Re: “Elaine's on Franklin

Elaine's is an amazing dining experience. The food is locally sourced and everything is prepared from scratch in house. The fresh baked bread, sour dough and garlic focaccia, and home made butter are divine! The menu is seasonal and changes frequently based on what's fresh and in season. The soft shells available early summer(now) are not to be missed. The seafood dishes are yummy! The wine list is diverse and approachable, always earning the coveted Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. The chef, Bret Jennings, has been described as a "culinary genius" and prepares everything personally, including sumptuous deserts. The warm chocolate cake with pistachio ice cream is Delicious! The wait staff and service are attentive and informative. Overall, Elaine's exceeds all culinary expectations! I will be returning frequently!
