I wish you would have mentioned the local opener, Necrocosm. They're quite honestly one of the best death metal bands to come out of this region in a long time. Their new CD totally slays.
The biggest metal show Durham has probably ever seen and you only wrote about Origin? Come on dude! At least write some stuff up for the local band!
we had a great time at this concert, opening band Zakke was so much fun!
Hey- I'll be playing at 7pm along with David DiGiuseppe!
Probably because Beyond was sort of "high concept" for the Queers and seems to be a favorite of Joe's. Also it may be the only album they can toy with like that, what are they gonna re-record Beat Off or Grow Up, have you peeped the line up on those albums? Beat Off for one has Joe, Panic, B-Face and Vapid. It doesn't get any better than that!
MOVED TO---- 405 S. Brooks St., Wake Forest.
In front of Brook Street Bowling.
Just checked the Cat's Cradle site: it's $15 rather than $5

Highlight of my day. Henbrain ble my mind WIDE OPEN. Two basses in my face! And the Color Exchange was fresh to death! Great bassist as well. Mmmmmm Hopscotch
I refuse to even give this "event" one star. I'll just call it was it was: robbery. Four people in our party purchased tickets in advance for the all-you-can-eat blue crabs. When we arrived, we found a red tent with a bold sign that read "All-You-Can-Eat Blue Crabs". My husband and brother-in-law waited in that line for over an hour, until they learned from someone in line ahead of them that they needed to go to another tent for the all-you-can-eat crabs; that particular line was for purchasing crabs by the plate. We.were.livid! When we reached the new tent, we spent another 10 minutes trying to gain further directions of where to go. Finally, we were led to an area in the rear of the park next to a parking lot. There were NO signs [at all] directing us there. We eventually found the area, with only 45 minutes to spare. To "accommodate" the delay, the organizer announced an extension of 15 minutes. 15 minutes! How despicable.
Now, let's talk about the food truck lines. Absolutely atrocious! Some said there were 5 food trucks; I only saw 4. The one that provided the most "variety" (by that, I mean fish, shrimp and chicken strips) had THE longest line I'd ever seen. Someone said 50 people; what a joke. It was at least 150 waiting in that line. And as the day went on, the line got even longer. Other members of my party waited in that line for 2 hours just to order and another 45 minutes just to receive the food. We brought our kids along b/c it's supposed to be a family event. Ha! My kids were extremely hungry, thus irritable and lethargic. I, as an adult, fought against the beaming sun and humidity (w/ a few shower sprinkles to cool us off), but my children? It was torture, and my anger amplified immensely! When we finally tasted the food, the seasoning was lacking a bit and the prices were OUTRAGEOUS! Which leads me to talk about that joke of an entrance fee...
When I learned there would be a charge for entering (the all-you-can-eat blue crabs fee included the entrance fee and children 12 and under did enter free), I was under the impression that the fee offered the privilege of having access to food trucks w/ unbeatable pricing. Hell, if I knew I was going to pay $15 for a plate of 5 shrimp, 2 bland pieces of fried fish, rubbery fries, and boxed red beans & rice, I would've spent my money instead at our local seafood market and eatery, which is delicious! And because of the openness of the park, patrons were entering without checking in or paying, and we observed them ordering food without wearing wristbands. What was the point of the entrance fee again? This is what happens when there's lack of security and patrol.
As for parking, it was expected that parking at Pullen Park would be problematic, as it is while visiting the Park on any weekend during the summer. So, when holding an event at such a busy location, it would've been wise to plan better for parking and provide DIRECTIONS to additional parking. We ended up parking on the street a quarter of a mile down the road, which fortunately is permitted in Raleigh.
My family was robbed. Plain and simple. The organizers anticipated this event being a disaster, which is why they emphasized "all ticket sales are final". I wish I would've been more attentive and less naive. We had family and friends come in from out of town to attend this travesty. And because of this sour experience and the organizers refusal to refund even a portion of our wasted dollars, we will NOT be returning next year or attending any events hosted by these organizers. Customer service means everything to me, and when you show me how much you don't appreciate me as a customer/patron, I will show you just how much you and your business are worth: nil.
Completely disgraceful! Whoever gave this totally inept SouthEast Events organization the green light, clearly did not do any homework or research at all. They should be permanently banned and forced to fully refund to anyone who demands it. They could not have done a worse job. I personally spoke to Jamell who was supposedly leading. He could see it was a disaster with almost no vendors, just a few food trucks, no music, absurd lines and how can a food truck run out of food? He and this organization should be immediately sacked and banned from any future Raleigh Parks and Recreation contracts. No excuse at all for such a wanton display of incompetence. Let a local high school organize next time if you do not want professionals.
Parking fiasco, long line to enter, NO napkins or sinks to clean up, Lines to get food (what little was available) took almost an hour. What a waste! You would be better off going to Crab Fest at Red Lobster.
This event is false advertisement and a waste of money!
If possible, I would give zero stars! A waste of our time and money. Three of us and we all agree. First of all, a LONG line to enter the parking lot only to find NO parking places and NO ONE giving instruction. One admission line was extremely long while another across the park was basically empty and NO ONE was giving instruction. Basically, it was a $7 admission for the privilege of ordering from a few food trucks with huge lines. The organizers appeared totally unprepared. We left without ordering, tried to get a refund for a total rip off - of course, to no avail.
This is a waste of money. There were hundreds of people, but only 5 food vendors (only 4 serving seafood). The long lines made customers inpatient and even angry especially after being told the vendor was out of seafood when finally getting to the font of the line. Most of the attendees left emptied-handed and went to a local restaurant. The organizers made a profit from unsatisfied locals!!!
What a joke. Whoever planned this should be ashamed of themselves. Waste $7/person on admission to meet only 5 food trucks with lines 50 people long each. Everyone seemed to congregate at the NC Seafood Restaurant once they were disappointed with the festival. I highly recommend just going there for seafood this weekend.
That guy is halarious!
My name is Kelly Helen Thompson,I would like to thank the person who set this event up. Thank you.
