If the November challenge of National Novel Writing Month is a bit much for you, cram the experience into one day with 24 Hour Comic Book Day, when participants will attempt to write and illustrate a 24-page comic in 24 hours. Ultimate Comics is throwing a local version of the event; some results will be published in a special anthology, with proceeds going to charity. Those 18 and older are allowed to stay the night, which will include pizza for dinner and a pancake breakfast in the morning. Participants should bring a chair, paper and drawing materials, sealable beverages, computer/ MP3 player with headphones, emergency numbers, a change of clothes, and toothpaste and a toothbrush. It will be a time for comic book gladiators. The event starts at noon on Saturday and ends at 11 a.m. on Sunday. —Zack Smith
