Most opening nights at restaurants can be a harrowing experience, but my husband and I took a chance and went to Piedmont on its first night. We were absolutely blown away. We've been there about eleven or twelve times since and the service, food and atmosphere consistently exceed our expectations of what a restaurant should be. My husband and I are not easily impressed, but we've been so oddly affected by this restaurant that we're telling friends, reltatives, neighbors, coworkers, flight attendants, UPS guys, "You've gotta go to Piedmont!"
Many of the so-called better restaurants have a lot of bravado and self importance regarding their menu and chefs, but often fall short. Piedmont could very easily sing its own praises and have the cojones to back it up, but I don't believe that's their intention. It's about being in the background, but preparing and serving fantastic food and giving its customers a pleasant dining experience.
When you eat at Piedmont on a Friday night, and you're still thinking about that meal on Sunday afternoon, they're doing something right. Established restaurants in the area can take a lesson from these guys!
