The Ban Mi was great, just enough fire to enjoy the fresh jalapenos.
If you like pimento cheese, you will love their version. Reminds you of why you love pimento cheese and wonder why you have not eaten for a while.
For the coffee, the only way it would be any better is if Dave roasted it himself.
Come see why Dave won 4 Golden Cups for his coffee with his previous coffee shop.
I really wish I could give Blu more stars unfortunately I think they have a lot of improvements to make on their service before this would be appropriate. Not to be missed, Blu's food offerings were delish - well presented and prepared, flavors and seasoning was spot on. I'm confident if they train their waitstaff or work on getting more experienced folks to help teach the newer staff they will be well on their way to a 5-Star rating.
Starter wasf Conk Ceviche - was so fresh I thought they just caught it only moments before it was served. For my entree (served nearly an hour after my first course - almost lost my apetite) I had the Feature for the day - Mahi Mahi was extrodinarily prepared...key lime pie was the best i've had...what a nice finish...much needed after over 3 hour total meal time.
Attention to Service + Quality of Cuisine = Recipe for Success...(aka repeat visits by diners)...
Poor business management! Went last night for open mic night that was posted on their web site, in the INDY and every other local rag and the place was CLOSED! This makes the 2nd time I went to this place and the doors were locked. Spent nearly an hour waiting in the parking lot as 14 people came and went, all also disappointed. The least any good business owner or manager could do would be tape a hand written piece of paper to the front door saying "we are closed, no show tonight". What a waste of time, gas, and effort!
Village Deli is perfect example of Location Location Location. We all have you been to a restaurant at beach or when you visit some new town there is a restaurant that is in the heart of the action. Looks inviting then you go inside and try the food, consequently are astounded how such a pathetic tasting food is served at gas gouging prices. Village Deli is it for Wake Forest. This place is Bad. REAL BAD… Wilted lettuce in salad. Hello! What appeared to be slimy old smelly cold cuts skimpy served on a huge roll. Tasteless. If I want bread I would go to a bakery. My attempt to get fresh salad was throated with rude/nasty person at register raising her voice at me. Wow… how about if I buy you a “side” of anger management classes Village Deli ?
Furthermore, this place is not a Deli not even with the furthest stretch of the imagination… I guess the thief that owns this place must know “Deli” in the name must sell. I have been told that there were others Village Deli's that went under, because of bad food and astronomical prices (winning combination). I am sure this one in Wake Forest is not far behind. Avoid this place at all cost … Do not waste your monies on bad old food that might man you sick…
Consistently high quality. I've loved everything that I've tried. The atmosphere is relaxing.
Whether it's the blues jam w/ Butch, Friday's w/ the Duke Street Dawgs, or any other of the great venues at the BNG, you'll certainly be treated to some of the best music and very tasty food for the Triangle has to offer. This is a must do and you're sure to return and bring friends!

The blues jam at Blue Note is a perfect storm. Lots of first-rate musicians who are happy to play with new folks and in new combinations. Hospitable owners and staff. Good and affordable food with great beers on tap. Cozy atmosphere where the energy is truly palpable. An audience that enjoys and appreciates the music (and dances!). Butch does a great job facilitating and making sure that everyone gets a chance to play.
Great stop. Authentic irish pub and awesome food. Music on weekends rock. Definitely out local hangout. Shepherd's Pie and Guinness is what it's all about.
Decent food. Nice break from what I can have delivered. But $20 plus for a six of beer? I understand convenience and proceed despite the price. One time.
Really nice new club. The stage room is nicely sized and sounds good. Good beer selection at the bar, friendly bartenders, and a nice space to hang out it. Even a little bit of a patio for those nice summer nights.
Food was so good I stood up and smacked my mom,.. twice!
Had my wedding rehearsal here, mainly because of all my great memories - and I did not regret! The service was amazing, the preparation and presentation was top of the line and my "very large" rehearsal party was very happy with the top of the line seafood that was served. I gave a great impression and that was thanks to this restaurant. I will never forget this dinner and I am more than pleased to give it a 5 star rating!
Pbrain- yes, Katy's is still open.
Is the club still open? I can find no listings of events on their FB page- and their website is no more.
It is a blessing to have such a great vinyl store in Carrboro, especially one that hosts such cool events. I attended the fantastic release party for "Said I Had a Vision" and look forward to supporting this place for years to come. Come sit on a couch, drink your coffee and groove to some vinyl pops.....
Pros: Very friendly staff, cheap beer, great location. If you haven't seen the back of the Raleigh Ampitheater, come drink a beer and watch it in all it's glory. The owner is pretty cautious about the bands he lets in, so the music is usually good, especially on the weekends. The walls are painted with quotes from all your favorite songs.
Cons: The sound system is good, but the vocals are always difficult to hear. Mention this to the sound guy, and he will point you to a sign that says 'The vocals are turned up all the way.' Maybe they need a compressor?
Also, if you didn't like 'Sex and Candy' back in the 90s, be prepared to be a little annoyed.
Pros: Great bands, good sound system, cheap beers, cool interior, close to the I-40 for out-of-towners. Music is mainly in the vein of rock and metal.
Cons: Not enough places to sit if you wanna chill, nothing else close - have to drive for food, other venue.
I'm surprised not more people know of this venue. Cool vibe.
Why doesn't IndyWeek support this place????!!!
Good, cheap, fresh. Can't beat it.
Johnny's of Carrboro is an awesome place to have a beer and listen to some music. They have a different food truck there just about every night of the week. You can see what's going on at Johnny's on their google calendar found on their website.
Beer garden, great food, good people- a great place to spend some time on a beautiful day or evening.
Gary Brunotte is electric when performing his German tunes on his accordion.
