Rose's in Durham makes Bon Appetit's "America's Best New Restaurants 2014"

If you see some people on Gregson Street looking especially proud, just know they have reason to be. Rose's Meat Market and Sweet Shop in Durham has made Bon Appetit's list of 50 nominees for "America's Best New Restaurants 2014." 

The creation of Justin and Katie Meddis, Rose's focuses on using local meats and ingredients to create such dishes as a Fennel and Smoked Paprika Sausage Roll and pastry delights such as Blueberry Lemon Mochi Cake, Raspberry Pistachio Macaron and Bourbon Caramels. In describing Rose's the magazine said "Though the menu is abbreviated, the fare is stellar."

The magazine says that the 50 nominees were chosen from thousands of restaurants that opened across America in the past year. The common thread, it says, is "flat-out, ambitious deliciousness." On Aug. 19 the magazine will narrow the list down and announce "The Hot 10" restaurants. 

Another North Carolina restaurant making the list of 50 nominees is Rhubarb in Asheville. Other locales represent in the 50 include New York, Los Angeles, New Orleans, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
