Opinion: McCrory’s mean joke, a poet laureate who’s barely a poet

By appointing the unknown, unqualified Valerie Macon as our state's Poet Laureate, Governor McCrory kicked the North Carolina Arts Council and the state’s rich literary history to the curb. But instead of grumbling, N.C. poets should take it as a call to action.
